About the BDTC

The Belchertown Democratic Town Committee (BDTC) is your local branch of the Democratic Party.

Our members work to promote Democratic Party ideals—including equal rights for all, affordable health care, and an economy that works for everyone—and to elect Democratic candidates at home as well as in Washington, DC.

If you're a registered Democrat, please become a member! It’s a great way to connect with other Democrats and work together to achieve our shared goals.

We offer two membership levels: Associate and Elected. An Associate membership is a perfect introduction to the local political process. Or, if you’d prefer a more active role in our local democracy, then becoming an Elected member is a great option. Elected members have voting rights and serve on our subcommittees, helping to further our Democratic principles and vision. Membership dues are $20/year.

With your support and participation, we can help create meaningful change in our town. If you're interested in becoming a BDTC member, please click the link below.

Our Values

Equal rights for all

No one should be denied basic rights because of who they are or where they come from. Every person in Massachusetts should be treated equally  under the law and protected from harassment, discrimination, and bigotry.

Access to high-quality, comprehensive, affordable healthcare

Healthcare is a human right, and no one in our Commonwealth should suffer because they are living with a preexisting condition, struggling with a substance use disorder, or experiencing a mental health crisis and are unable to access or afford critical care.

A woman's right to choose

Women deserves the right to control their own bodies and their own futures. A woman's choices about her reproductive health should be between her and her doctor - no one else - and every woman has the right to access a safe, legal abortion.

Affordable, world-class public education

Every young person in Massachusetts deserves access to high-qualty public education from pre-school through college, because the ceiling of educational opportunity should not be determined by the zip code you are born into.

An economy that works for everyone

Workers are the engine of our Commonwealth, and every worker deserves to be paid a living wage, is entitled to benefits that help support their family, and should be guaranteed the right to organize and collectively bargain.

Environmental and climate justice

Climate change is real, and Democrats stand behind our elected leaders at the local, state, and federal level who are pursuing bold solutions - like the Green New Deal - to confront the climate change crisis and address the impacts on our most vulnerable communities.

Affordable, reliable public transportation

Every day, hundreds of thousands of people across Massachusetts rely on public transit to access jobs, schools, and critical services. A modern, reliable, and affordable public transit system is essential to ensuring economic opportunity and helping to combat climate change.
