Meetings and Events

The BDTC holds quarterly meetings that are open to the public. In between those meetings, our members meet with their subcommittees to work on issues that are important to Democrats in our community and beyond. Below is a sampling of some of our recent activities.

Our Favorite Moments from 2022

In  2022, our members and friends worked hard to stand up for democracy by defeating recalls, helping candidates run for office and keeping voters informed, connecting with our community, teaching kids (and adults!) about voting, and electing candidates who represented our values.  Please watch our recap video to see some of our favorite moments from 2022.

Candles for Democracy

In January 2021, we joined others around the country to light candles for democracy.

With this symbolic gesture, we reflected on our democracy and its importance to our community and our country. Please click here to watch our video collage.

Postcards to Voters

Between July and October 2020, the BDTC sent more than 3,000 postcards to voters in swing states.

These friendly missives were sent to Democrats in swing states and included an application they could send in to request their vote-by-mail ballots. Through the hard work of our BDTC members and friends, we helped to increase voter turnout in a key state for the 2020 election.

Virtual Postcard Parties

We held our very first virtual postcard-writing parties in July 2020.

Participants filled out postcards that included vote-by-mail applications to help increase voter turnout in Florida.  Thank you to everyone who attended and made the process so much fun!

Support for Local Candidates

Leading up to the November 2020 election, the BDTC supported our local Democratic candidates running for state representative. Our hardworking members distributed lawn signs, phone banked,  donated, and also participated in standouts to show their support. Together, we helped Jake Oliveira win a seat in the Massachusetts House of Representatives.

BDTC Caucus 2020

The Belchertown Democratic Town Committee held its yearly caucus on February 22, 2020, at the Belchertown Town Hall.

Twenty-six Belchertown Democrats met to elect delegates who will attend the Massachusetts Democratic State Convention on May 30. The Delegates are Bonnie Butler, Gail Gramarossa, Dick Knapp, Mike Knapp, Victor Robidoux, Randi Shenkman, and James Walker.

The caucus also welcomed Jake Oliveira who is running for the 7th Hampden District seat now that Representative Thomas Petrolati is retiring.

Belchertown Fair 2019

The Belchertown Democratic Town Committee once again participated in the Belchertown Fair on September 20-22, 2019.

In addition to staffing a booth, we showed our colors by marching in the parade. Visitors to the fair were able to learn about ranked choice voting by participating in a mock primary.
