The BDTC has two membership levels: Elected and Associate. The committee is allowed to have 35 Elected members, who serve on our subcommittees and have voting rights. Our Associate members are welcome to participate in all BDTC meetings and events, but they are not required to serve on subcommittees. Membership dues are $20/year.
Elected members are on the ballot every four years during the Democratic Presidential Primary. If seats become open, the BDTC will nominate new members and elect them to the committee in the interim.
The BDTC has five subcommittees that work together to build our committee and support Democratic candidates and causes in Belchertown as well as at the state and national levels. Our Elected members serve on these subcommittees, and our Associates assist them as needed.
The By-Laws Subcommittee works to develop and modify the BDTC's by-laws to ensure the committee functions properly.
The Communications Subcommittee is the community outreach branch of the BDTC. It communicates with the Belchertown community about all relative issues and activities, manages the BDTC's social media, and promotes membership.
The Local and Regional Politics Subcommittee works to support Belchertown's Democratic candidates for office, maintains relationships with our state representatives and senators, supports and manages civic issues and events in town, and works with regional Democratic Town Committees and other groups.
The Local Events and Outreach Subcommittee works to support local actions or social events that support our members and values.
The State and National Issues Subcommittee works to support Democratic candidates and causes at the state and national level, maintains relationships with our US representatives and senators, and engages with other statewide Democratic organizations.
