Taking Back the House and Senate

It's clear that we need to maximize our financial and activist contributions for the 2026 election cycle and to do so efficiently. This document will be revised over time as the November 2026 election approaches and conditions change.

Twenty races that are expected to be tightly contested are included in the second release of this document for the 2026 election season. Included are 2 Senate races with Democratic incumbents (GA and MI), 3 flippable Senate races (ME, NC, and OH), 3 incumbent House races (OH-1, OH-9, and TX-34), and 12 flippable House races (AZ-6, CA-22, CO-8, IA-1, IA-3, MI-7, NJ-7, NY-17, PA-7, PA-10, VA-2, and WI-3). In order to keep this list from being much larger, a filtering selection criterion for entry into this list was used, which required the race to have at least 2 tossup ratings among the Cook Political Report, Sabato’s Crystal Ball, and Inside Elections ratings. The Ohio Senate and OH-9, NJ-7, and NY-17 have been added in this second version.

The simplest way to contribute is to donate to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). However, those donations will be spread among Democratic candidates, who may win or lose by relatively wide margins.  An alternative is to try to help those candidates in close contests in the hope that our targeted assistance will push them "over the top."  In addition to identifying those closely contested Senate and House races, information about the candidates' positions on key issues is provided.  The intent is to allow the donor to further target assistance to those candidates who share their values. For example, one may prefer to contribute more to progressive than centrist candidates. Please contribute (and/or volunteer) as best you can, as the urgency is high.
